Dear Providence Christian Academy Family,
As we begin the month of April, we are grateful for the many moments of learning, growth, and joyful discovery already behind us. The photo above captures a special glimpse from second grade, where students marveled together at a science experiment—an expression of the curiosity and wonder that continues to fill our classrooms each day. It has been a meaningful season of hands-on learning and steady progress across all grades.
With Easter just a few days away, we turn our hearts toward the hope and new life we have in Christ. As we head into vacation beginning Friday, we pray that this time provides rest, refreshment, and meaningful time together as families. We look forward to welcoming everyone back soon as we continue into the final stretch of the school year!

Fifth grade students put their creativity to work by imagining, designing, and building their own four-square grids to review spelling words. After constructing their boards, they brought learning to life by playing “Spelling Four-Square,” combining movement, teamwork, and word practice in a fun and engaging way.
Four-square has quickly become a favorite across all grades this season, with students eagerly gathering to play whenever they have the opportunity. This fifth grade activity built on that shared enthusiasm, turning a well-loved game into a purposeful learning experience that felt both familiar and exciting.

A Gift of Talent and Heart:
The PCA Wolverine Comes to Life

Providence Christian Academy is grateful to recognize a special contribution from Nancy Ghitman, grandmother of Nate Ghitman, who generously gave her time and resources to paint the beautiful Wolverine mural in the PCA gym.
Nancy brings a rich artistic background to this work. She began painting while studying at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Liège, Belgium, and has

continued to grow under the influence of teachers connected with art schools in New York and Massachusetts. After living in New York City and later settling in rural Massachusetts, she devoted herself more fully to painting, creating multiple series that have been exhibited throughout the region.
Reflecting on this project, Nancy shared: “I began painting years ago when I studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Liège, Belgium. Since that time, I have received inspiration from several teachers affiliated with art schools in New York and Massachusetts. After living in New York City and later moving to rural Massachusetts, I have devoted myself to painting and have created several different series of work which have been shown successfully in the area.”
She also spoke about the meaning behind the wolverine: “It was my pleasure when I was asked to paint the school’s mascot. Wild animals are often used in athletics to represent qualities needed to succeed. The wolverine is especially remarkable for its strength, resilience, and ability to persevere despite its size. These qualities reflect so much of what I see in Providence Christian Academy.”
Her closing words capture the heart of her gift: “Here’s to many more years of strong standards, devotion, and the nurturing of our children—academically, athletically, and spiritually. We are truly blessed to have found a home here.”
Nancy’s mural is more than artwork. It is a meaningful expression of identity, strength, and community. We are deeply thankful for her generosity and the lasting impact she has made on our school

Exploring Earth’s Power in Fourth Grade

It has been a busy and engaging season in fourth grade as students explored the dynamic forces of the earth. They designed and tested earthquake-resistant structures, learning how thoughtful construction can help withstand powerful natural forces. Through hands-on challenges, students were able to see firsthand how design choices impact strength and stability.

In addition, grade 4 students examined volcanic eruption paths and investigated the properties of rocks through geologic testing. These activities gave them a deeper understanding of how the earth changes and the science behind it, all while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and careful observation.

At the 2026 New England Tournament of Champions (TOC), we witnessed an outstanding display of determination and sportsmanship. Fifth grader Mark “The Shark” M. delivered an incredible performance, battling his way to victory in a hard-fought overtime match against a very strong opponent. The match kept everyone on the edge of their seats, as both wrestlers showed exceptional skill, resilience, and heart from start to finish.
After a difficult loss at the New England Championships just one week earlier, Mark returned with remarkable perseverance and focus. His hard work

and determination were evident, and he ultimately earned a well-deserved first-place finish. As a team and a school community, we are incredibly proud of his achievement and grateful to the Lord for His strength and provision. It was a memorable victory, and we look forward to what lies ahead.

March was an exciting and interactive month in second grade science, filled with hands-on experiments that brought learning to life. Students explored the concept of friction through a creative activity called “Rice in the Bottle.” By packing rice tightly into a bottle and inserting a pencil, they observed how friction between the rice and the pencil created a strong enough grip to lift the entire bottle. It was a memorable way to see an invisible force at work.
Students also investigated atmospheric pressure by turning a cup of water upside down with an index card covering the top. To their amazement, the card stayed in place, holding the water inside. This demonstrated how the air pressure outside the cup pushes up more strongly than the water pushes down. In addition, students studied matter and its three states—solid, liquid, and gas—through engaging experiments, including observing polymer balls absorb water and expand while remaining solids.
The class also explored the water cycle and how God designed a continuous system that sustains life. Students learned about evaporation by creating a simple model using a sealed bag of water placed in the sun, where they could observe water turning into vapor. They then examined condensation by creating a “cloud in a jar,” watching water vapor cool and form visible droplets, just as clouds form in the sky.
Weather and storms were another highlight of the month. Students learned how the sun powers weather systems and how tornadoes form as rapidly spinning columns of air. Through several “tornado” experiments using bottles, jars, and simple materials, students were able to see swirling funnels in action. These activities sparked excitement and curiosity as they connected scientific concepts to real-world phenomena.
Finally, students explored chemical reactions by combining baking soda and vinegar to inflate a balloon with gas. This experiment helped them understand how different states of matter can interact and change. Altogether, it was a month full of discovery, wonder, and hands-on learning as students deepened their understanding of the world God created.

Be Part of the Wolverine Tradition
|
|
|
At Providence Christian Academy, identity begins first in Christ. Because we belong to Him, we also belong to one another. Being a Wolverine reflects that shared commitment, a community grounded in faith, learning, and purpose. It is a visible reminder that we are connected not only by a school, but by a mission.
Launched during Wolverine Week in February, our new online store and merchandise initiative reflects something deeper than apparel. Our PCA merchandise is thoughtfully selected for comfort, quality, and everyday wear. Whether it is a cozy hoodie on a chilly New England morning, joggers for after-school activities, a water bottle for busy days, or a cap or tote for weekend errands, there is something for every member of the family.

Wearing PCA gear is a simple way to represent our school wherever you go. At the grocery store, at church, at athletic events, or around town, the Wolverine community is visible.
Visit the online store to browse the latest selections and find your favorites. Thank you for helping build a strong and visible Wolverine tradition. At Providence Christian Academy, the Wolverine tradition continues to grow, and PCA families and friends are invited to be part of it.

As we close, we give thanks for all that God has done in and through our school this season—from the daily work in the classroom to the moments of joy, growth, and discovery along the way. It is a privilege to partner together in the training and care of these students. As we celebrate Resurrection Day, may our hearts be filled with the truth and hope of the gospel. He is risen! Wishing each of your families a blessed and joyful Easter.
Blessings,
Linda Temby

April Prayer Point
The April Fruit of the Spirit Focus will be:Gentleness
Prayer Focus: Salvation for the Lost
As we reflect on the resurrection of Christ, pray for those we love who do not yet know Him, that they would come to experience the saving power of the risen Savior. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is able to bring new life to hearts that are far from Him. Ask the Lord to draw them in mercy, to open their eyes to the truth of the gospel, and to give boldness and compassion to those who share Christ with them.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.’” — John 11:25
